I’ve decided I should randomly make my blog fail, just like Twitter. Twitter gets massive amounts of traffic, and the fact that it becomes unavailable on a daily basis (RoR Ho!) has become a sort of badge of honor, rather than something to fix. I got this idea seeing my thrice daily Twitter Error message on Twitterrific:
I’ve decided to take a page from Twitter’s book here, and here is mine:
There was a “can’t serve - massive amounts of HTTP traffic coming in, too many packets flying about error” while communicating with this Blog of Unusual Popularity. This is not a problem, its just the growing pains of a massively popular blog. For the time being, please yield to KidWonder. Please contact me at [page that will be down since my service is down] if the problem persists. Also, you should write about how un-FAIL it is that I’m down because of so much traffic.
