Amusing story in today’s NYTimes about British commoners being asked to describe “what it means to be British”. Included in the article are the results of a motto-writing contest run by the Times of London. The title of this post was the winner, written by a 25-year old named David Bishop. Other mottos with a British ring to them:
“Once Mighty Empire, Slightly Used”
“At Least We’re Not French”
“We Apologize for the Inconvenience”
The British House of Lords suggested use of their own: “Questions and answers ought to be short”
The Times of London piece.
