Grand Canal, Venice

So we just rolled into the beautiful Santa Maria Novella train station in downtown Florence. It is lovely here - we just checked into the hotel Leonardo Da Vinci. (probably no relation to the actor)

We had a nice time in Venice, the Carnevale was pretty cool. The bulk of the action we saw took place in Piazza de San Marco (St. Mark’s Place). Take a look.

So the big thing appears to be that people walk around in full Victorian dress, with masks on, and people take pictures of them. The piazza was pretty crowded with people and there was a show going on with people signing and dancing. Lots of confetti throwing. Hooray!

Carnevale-ians

So we’re off in search of dinner. Hopefully we’ll see some Renaissance awesomeness to share tomorrow.
