Still in London, Danielle and I have spent the better part of the last couple of days resting and relaxing and avoiding the heat. We switched hotels today to the Radisson Edwardian Hotel, and we now have air conditioning! It’s amazing how many creature comforts you take for granted at home…
We rambled a bit yesterday, crossed the Thames, saw the London Eye (but too late to get on it), and hung out a bit around Trafalgar Square, which is reminiscent of Times Square (or probably vice versa).
I’ve enjoyed getting a bit of a break from the sightseeing, but not to worry, I’m sure we’ll get around to it.
We met a girl from Auburn University who along with 9 other students and 2 chaperones were at the tail end of spending 5 weeks in Europe studying construction sites as part of their senior theses. They visited something like 15 different parts of Europe, including England, France, Germany, Switzerland, etc, etc. on the cheap, which basically entailed lugging their bags for miles from airport to airport, hostel to hostel. A trip I’m sure they won’t soon forget, but to see the look on their faces, a trip that they were pretty happy to see end.
We’re still working out the plan for Wimbledon, which started today. Its either queue from 7am for grounds tickets or overnight for Centre Court. Its a toss up at this point.
Well, that’s all for now. See you next time on The European Vacation, part 21.
