So this is most likely the last note I’ll send from Paris, since I’m off to London tomorrow.
I went to the Guinness Tavern last night and took in many pints of Guinness and listened to French concert rock. I thought it was kinda funny to hear “Back in the USSR, na na na na na na na na, back in the US, back in the US, back in the USSR”. I mean, you need to know the words in English to cover the song. Just my humble opinion. I had fun though, it was a (rare) laid back scene.
Today I went to the Museé Rodin, which was nice (they had some Van Gogh paintings as well, nice bonus). I was looking out the window on the second floor which the French so thoughtfully call the first floor, and noticed that the garden, like most of the sculptured gardens in Paris, is an enormous phallic symbol. Ha! Click the link above if you don’t believe me. Do it. I dare you. I double dog dare you.
Then I walked along St. Germain des Pres, which is a shopping district. Don’t get your hopes up, it was all window shopping. I mean, I’m perfectly comfortable paying $700 for a pair of shoes, but $750, that’s just outrageous. I’m waiting for the time when I walk into a shoe store, say hey, I’d like that regular looking pair of black shoes there, how much? And for them to say, Oh those? One million dollars. Yeah, they’re on sale too.
So I say so long to Paris, ah Paris, where the women are women, the men are women, and the animals are afraid.
